Why angry over what you cannot control.
Why fight over what is beyond your power.
Why troubling yourself on what you can’t fix
“Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.”
Ecclesiastes 9:18 KJV
The preacher said in ecclesiastes 9:11
Man do not intimately control events
“I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.”
Ecclesiastes 9:11 NIV
There is a story in Genesis 4 about two brothers Cain and Abel
The children of the first family on earth
“Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.” Genesis 4:2 NIV
Thanks giving sacrifices offering of the two brothers
“In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord.”
Genesis 4:3 NIV
“And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,”
Genesis 4:4 NIV
“but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.” Genesis 4:5 NIV
Why things happen
“Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast”
Genesis 4:6 NIV
God is all knowing. He saw it coming, though Cain had done nothing stupid or evil yet.
In the New Testament Apostle Paul admonished the Ephesians on the subject of anger leading to sin.
““In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,”
Ephesians 4:26 NIV
“and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Ephesians 4:27 NIV
Let’s be careful.
Why things happen
God ask Cain why are you angry.
God knew what was about to go down (about to happen) with Cain and Abel
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look.1 Samuel 16:17
God was explaining to Cain why his brother’s sacrifice was honored (accepted) by him instead of his.
God said to Cain and the same goes to every one of us as a people of this generation.
“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”” Genesis 4:7 NIV
God was preparing him so that he can avoid the costly evil things that his anger we’ll bring up on him.
Why things Happen
“Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
(9) Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper”” Genesis 4:8-9 NIV
Cain killed Abel, his brother.
You may not physically kill but you do damages that no one can rescue you.
“The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” Genesis 4:10 NIV
Anytime anyone allows sin to take over their actions they fall short of God’s glory.
Paul letter to the church in Rome:
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 NIV
The punishment of Cain for his had action:
Cain Lamentation
“Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear.” Genesis 4:13 NIV
We people don’t consider the after effects of our actions before doing.
Why things Happen:
God demonstrates his mercy in spite of Cain's punishment.
This mercy did not stop the punishment of Cain’s sin against God for taking the life of his brother.
Cain has a conversation with God and lamenting.
Cain said to God:
“Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
(15) But the Lord said to him, “Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.”
Genesis 4:14-15 NIV
God do not want sin to repeat itself from the one who committed it
Also those might want to take laws into their own hands.
Let he who caused the havoc bear his cross, focus on doing what is right and don’t shear in another person’s punishment.
If you know what is right, do it.
If you don’t ask questions
Why things happen:
The blood of Abel cries to God for vengeance from the earth where Cain killed and buried him thinking nobody will discover.
God has to act because he died for doing what was right to God.
God still allowed Cain to have a life but he suffered the consequences of his actions.
Cain was banished from his home and forced to become a "fugitive and wanderer" on the earth, meaning he would roam the land without a fixed place to live, and the ground would no longer yield crops for him, essentially making it difficult for him to farm and sustain himself; God also put a "mark" on Cain to protect him from being killed by others in retaliation for his crime
A word of caution
God said, “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted Genesis 4:7 NIV
Let’s do what is right as people of our land so our society can conquer the evil set against her.
Let’s seek after God, let us look to him and let him arise on our behalf.
He is the God of all flesh and there is nothing he cannot change or turn around
